The BATH CLASSIC MOTOR CYCLE CLUB was founded in 1987 by a handful of motorcycle enthusiasts keen to rekindle interest in British bikes in and around the Bath area. Since then the club has catered for a variety of classic bike interests.

Two or three of the original founders had been taking part in Pre-65 scrambles which at that time were often classic demonstrations at modern motocross meetings. However they could see the need for a club to specifically promote British bike scrambles and so Bath Classic Motor Cycle Club was born. Trials and road runs followed as a natural progression.

The club has on average 200 members with weekly meetings around the Bath area and a variety of road runs, shows, trials and scrambles to cater for everyone’s needs.

Why not come along and join us – scroll down for more details below and also see the meetings and events page.

The Club is affiliated to the AMCA and MAG. Over the years we have also raised many thousands of pounds in support of charities.

Scrambles

The Club stages a scramble in April each year catering for Pre-60, Pre-65 and Pre-74 machines, with an average entry of 60-90 riders of all ages and abilities. It also generally hosts a Round of the Classic British Championship.  For details of dates & venues see the scrambles page.

Trials

We run a number of trials each year with entries averaging 50/70 riders, with five classes (Rigid, Pre-Unit, Unit, Twinshock, Air Cooled Mono, Modern Mono (riders over 50 years old) and three routes (Expert, Clubman & Gentleman’s) so we cater for most machine/rider abilities. For details of dates & venues see trials page.

Road Runs

The Road Runs section is very sociable and although we prefer if you ride a classic of some sort we will still speak to you if you don’t! We don’t mind as long as you appreciate classic machinery and understand that modern and classic machines have different needs and characteristics when being ridden together on a Road Run.

Shows

A Club Stand can be found at a selection of events. Members are encouraged to display their bikes, with the stand acting as a focal point for all club members.

Membership

Club membership generally averages about 200 members and runs from January 1 to December 31, It only costs £10. Newsletters are published during the year and we try to keep the website up to date.

Meetings

We meet most weeks somewhere around the Bath area.

The club holds formal committee meetings quarterly on the 2nd Wednesday of February, May and August with the AGM on the 2nd Wednesday in November.

The committee meetings are held at Weston Ex-services Association. Brookfield Road, Bath BA1 4JQ

Apart from these meetings, we also meet each Wednesday evening at various locations/pubs and in the summer have a monthly evening ride out. However in the present Covid situation we tend to be a bit fluid with a decision on the pub only being made up to a week in advance.
